The International Day of Democracy is held on 15th September of each year. It is celebrated all over the world since the last 10 years.

Why is it observed?

International Day of Democracy is observed with a sole purpose to promote democracy and its principles and also to review the current state of democracy in the world.

When was it founded?

The day was founded on the 20th anniversary of the first International Conference of New Democracies that promoted democracy worldwide.

How is it celebrated?

Many events are organized by government and non-government organizations to spread the awareness of democracy. Various conferences, discussions, campaigns and press conferences are held on this day. Schools and colleges organize debates with relevant topics.

Democracy gives you the right to vote and elect your leader rather than being ruled and controlled by a government.
